Kathmandu, July 4: A two-day national political convention of the indigenous nationalities kicked off in the Capital on Wednesday.
The convention started with the main slogan of 'Campaign of All Indigenous Community; Federal Constitution with Ethnic Identity', is expected to review the current political condition in the country.
Speaking at the inauguration session of the convention, Chairman of the Former Parliamentarians' Forum of the Indigenous Community (Caucus), Prithvi Subba Gurung, stressed the need of preparing the common concept on the present political condition in the country.
Also,Raj Kumar Lekhi, Chairman Federation of Nepal Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN), blamed that the political parties for failing to become serious towards the issues of indigenous people.
Likewise, Angkaji Sherpa, NEFIN General Secretary said the convention would analyze the present political situation in the country and come with a common views on the issues of ethnic groups.
Around 1,000 representatives including leaders of various political parties and organizations belonging to the indigenous community are participating in the convention.
