KATHMANDU: Nepal Women's Association, the women wing of Nepali Congress (NC), organized a talk programme on 'BP's Thoughts and Changed National Context' on the occasion of BP Memorial Day here on Friday.
Democratic leader BP Koirala's thoughts are equally relevant today as were in the past, said various speakers at the programme.
On the occasion, NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said that the Congress should play a lead role to avert the constitutional crisis facing the country.
He stressed the need of unity and understanding within the party and with other democratic forces.
NC General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula said the need of the day was to forge a national consensus among all the political parties.
There is no alternative to the formation of a national consensus government to resolve the current problems facing the country, he added.
Central Chairperson of Association, Dina Sangraula underlined the need of giving lead role to women and translating BP's thoughts into action.
Various speakers including NC central member Kamala Panta, Meena Pandey and Ambika Basnet underscored the urgency to follow the political philosophy adopted by the veteran leader late BP Koirala.
